His Great grandfather Venkatramiah, Grandfather Chandraiah, and father Nageshwar Varma ( All National Awardees) have contributed heavily to preserving this art form. Cheriyal art is one of the ancient and endangered art forms of India which are gradually fading away into Oblivion.
Cheriyal is the only city in Telangana, known for Cheriyal style of painting. It is believed that this style was primarily developed in Cheriyal for advertisement and announcement purposes, mainly to bring in more people into the cottage industry.
