This remarkable Phad Painting captures the fervor at traditional Celebrations and Dancing in villages. Created by a National awardee ‘Phad’ artist Kalyan Joshi, it shows a dancer carrying two oil-lit lamps in her hands while she is balancing two pots on her head. She is possibly performing a traditional regional ‘Bhawai’ dance. She is dancing to the beats of a dholki and another musical instrument. The entire painting is done using blue, gold, and black colors.
Created by one of the master artists of ‘Phad’ Art form, Kalyan Joshi, who started working with his father and Guru Shri Shrilal Joshi at the young age of eight years. The Joshi family has been the traditional artists of Phad for many centuries now. Kalyan Joshi has given new dimensions to Phad painting with his monochromatic renditions, collaborations with narrative poetry and more. He received the prestigious National Award in 2012. He is also the founder of “ANKAN ” Kala Sansthan, which served thousands of children with phad paintings.
These paintings are handmade in Phad style with natural pigment colors on paper. The perfect thing to decorate puja rooms in homes, offices, and business places.
