This epical Cheriyal hand painting portrays Bathukamma festival which is a flowers festival celebrated predominantly in Telangana and some parts of Andhra Pradesh. It is the festival for feminine felicitation. On this special occasion women dress up in the traditional sari combining it with jewels and other accessories and carry flower stack and leave them into the water, amazingly created by an authentic Cheriyal artist Sai Kiran from Telangana State of India, who received this art as a legacy from his ancestors.
These Cheriyal paintings generally depict the scenes from Indian Itihasas and puranas such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Garuda purana, Krishna leela, Markandeya purana etc. Cheriyal is the only city in Telangana, which has only Cheriyal style of painting.
