- Dr. J. Dundaraja is one of the renowned artists of the Mysore Palace, celebrated for his work in the Kalyana Mantapa adorning the walls. He studied with Y.Subramanya Raju, the court artist of Shri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar. Dr. J. Dundaraja has been practicing the art form for the last 31 years and is credited to have trained more than 700 individuals. For his incredible contribution to this beautiful art form, he has received the following awards and certificates, honorable Doctorate, Global Virtual Academy for Peace & Education 2018 Kala Tapaswi Award and many more.
- Like other classical and traditional Indian art, Mysore Paintings usually depict Hindu gods, goddesses, and stories from Indian mythology. Mysore paintings are known for their elegance, muted colors, and attention to detail. Mysore Traditional Painting is believed to bring auspicious to the home and preserved as valuable antiques. Mysore Painting is a form of classical South Indian painting, which evolved in the Mysore city of Karnataka. It’s similar to the Tanjore Paintings. Using fine brushes made from squirrel hair or blades of grass, artists of the Mysore School created spectacular detailing in small format artworks. The realism in every detail they painted – from facial expressions to the elaborate jewelry, patterns on the clothes to the detailing of the background – is truly breathtaking.
